Delete your account
You can ask for your CodeKasten account on codekasten.com, and the data that goes with it, to be deleted at any time. This is the same whether you use CodeKasten on the web or in the Android app.
How to ask
Write to support@codekasten.com from the email address you sign in with, with the subject Delete my account. If you write from another address, we ask you to confirm from that one first, so that nobody can have your account deleted but you.
We answer within a few days and delete the account within 30 days of your request. We tell you when it is done.
In the Android app, Settings › Delete account opens this page.
What is deleted
- Your account: your name, email address, username, picture and profile, and your ways of signing in.
- Everything that is yours alone: your Inbox, fleeting notes, memory, coding sessions, favourites, API keys, the phones registered for notifications, and your saved settings.
- Every workspace that only you are a member of, with everything in it, including your own workspace (
@username). - Your memberships of other workspaces.
What stays
- Records in a workspace you share with others belong to that workspace. The records, documents and chat messages you wrote there stay for its other members, and you are shown as a former member. To have some of them removed, ask the workspace's owners, or tell us which and we will ask them.
- A workspace you own together with others stays with its other owners. If you are its only owner, make somebody else an owner before you ask, or tell us who should be.
- Our encrypted backups are kept for 30 days and then deleted, so what was deleted is gone from them too within 30 days.
- What the law requires us to keep, such as records of payments once there are any.
Deleting some data without deleting the account
You do not have to delete your account to remove data:
- Delete your records, notes and messages yourself, in the app or on the web.
- Leave a workspace from its Members page.
- Signing out of an account in the Android app deletes everything the app kept for it on the phone. Settings › Free up space removes one workspace's.
The privacy policy of the Android app says what the app keeps and sends.
