Changelog
What each release of CodeKasten brought, the newest first.
The CodeKasten blog
20 October 2026 · r20261020-4
A blog at blog.codekasten.com, written in CodeKasten: posts published there appear on the blog with their pictures and an RSS feed.
A blog, written in CodeKasten. CodeKasten now has a blog at blog.codekasten.com. Its posts are written in CodeKasten itself, as records with rich text, pictures, a cover, a category and an author. Once a post is published, it appears on the blog with its pictures, and in the blog's RSS feed. Drafts stay private.
Scripts can read files with an API key. A script or an integration can now fetch a file with an API key, not only from a signed-in browser. A read-only key is enough.
Releases that link to their blog post
20 October 2026 · r20261020-2
A product release can name its post on the blog, and the What's new card's Read more opens it.
Product releases and the blog. A product release has a new Blog post field: the address of the post that announces it. When a release that is announced on the blog is marked shipped, a post is drafted for it from the release's notes, ready to edit and publish. The What's new card in the app opens that post with Read more; other releases still open the changelog.
The CodeKasten app has a new version with this field: upgrade it from the Marketplace.
Pictures in your text
20 October 2026 · r20261020-1
Put pictures in documents and descriptions, with a caption; agents can build types that extend Document, with choice and person fields.
Pictures in rich text. Type /image or use the toolbar to add pictures to a document or a record's description, or paste or drop them in. Each picture sits on its own line with a caption under it, and is kept as a file of the branch, so it goes wherever the text goes when the branch is merged. Agents read and write pictures too. See Text, documents and files.
Agents build more of an app. When an agent defines a record type in an app, the type can now extend another (such as Document, for records with rich text), and its fields can be a choice from a fixed list or a person. The agent is told each field's choices.
People in your fields
19 October 2026 · r20261019-10
A new field type, Person: pick one of your workspace's people - and features now have an Owner.
Person fields
A field can now hold a person: one of your workspace's people, shown with their picture and name. Click it to pick someone (you're at the top of the list), or choose "No one" to clear it. The same choice is in the create form and in the command palette.
Lists filter and group by a person field. The filter has Me, which means whoever is looking, so a saved view "Owner: me" shows each person their own. Reports group by person, with names.
Only members of the workspace can be chosen. Someone who leaves stays where they were chosen, shown as a former member.
In the Entity Builder, Person is a new field type. How fields work
Features have an Owner
The CodeKasten app's features have an Owner field. Install CodeKasten 0.5.0 from the Marketplace to get it.
For developers
- Agents name a person by username, email or id, and read them back with their username and name.
- In GraphQL, a person field is a
Personobject withid,usernameandname.
Tables in your text
19 October 2026 · r20261019-9
Pages and descriptions can hold tables: type /table to make one.
Tables
Type /table in any page or description (or use the toolbar) for a table with a header row. Tab moves to the next cell, and Tab in the last cell adds a row. The small button on a cell adds and removes rows and columns, aligns a column, and turns the header row on or off. A table pasted from a web page or a document stays a table. How tables work
Agents read and write tables too, as Markdown tables.
Fixes
- Text written by an agent keeps its shape: a list item that runs over two lines stays one item, a numbered list keeps its numbering, and bold text with code in it stays bold.
- In a drawing, deleting a group takes all of its shapes away at once.
What's new, in the app
19 October 2026 · r20261019-8
New releases now show as a card in the app, and the documentation has a changelog.
What's new, in the app
When CodeKasten has something new, a card at the foot of the sidebar says so, with a link to read more. Close it and it stays closed, on every device.
A changelog
The documentation has a changelog: every release, newest first, with what it brought.
Fixes
- In a drawing, Delete takes effect straight away again, also while a turn is still being saved. (Drawings)
Products and features, docs online
19 October 2026 · r20261019-7
Keep your product's features in CodeKasten, and read the documentation at docs.codekasten.com.
Products and features
A product's features can now be kept in CodeKasten: what each one does, what it cannot do yet, where its code and its documentation are, and a log of what was done to it and why. Coding agents read a feature before changing it and log their work against it, and every release lists the features it touched.
Documentation online
The documentation is at docs.codekasten.com. A feature's Docs tab opens its page.
Fixes
- Text typed just after the first words of a page is kept, also when the server is busy: a link typed then could be lost. (Text, documents and files)
- In a drawing, a group that is turned and deleted straight away no longer leaves a shape behind. (Drawings)
